I'm not unlike your typical 66 year old grandmother. I've just completed the first book in a true-crime series called "Bail Bonds Babylon," exposing my life as a bondswoman and how I became one of the top under cover detectives in the country at 66 years old.
I cannot tell you my real name, because I put not only my life but the life of my beloved family in danger, so let's just call me Laura Lanfield. Even some of my closest friends have no idea. I've kept it a secret from the world all these years. In fact, the truth is there are people who if they knew what I was exposing would have me and my family killed immediately - no questions asked. But this story must be told and in fact because I put my life on the line every day I want the story told before it's too late. I want my grandchildren to have a legacy and be proud of their grandmother because in this crazy business I live I could be gone at any second.

The author had me right along-side of her adventures. It was quick easy reading, and I could hardly put it down. I grew up in the same area as the author, so I could "see", as well as read, her descriptions. I enjoyed it thoroughly, and I hope Ms. Lanfield hurries to write some more about her interesting adventures.Product details

She hits it out of the park with this book!!! Why is this not on the big screen by now?? Loved reading every minute of it.
I could not put this book down. I read it in a day and a half. It is incredible to think that one woman went through all these adventures. They read as exciting but to think that she had to go through these dangerous situations and finding out how she got out of them is nothing less than incredible. I would recommend this book to anyone who is traveling, on break, or just curling up at home for the weekend. Laura Lanfield writes in an expressive and easy to read style. You'll get some laughs too, from her sass.
I read Bail Bonds Babylon in a day and a half. The dangerous adventures that Laura Lanfield had to go through to bring justice to harden criminals are no less than heroic. I forget sometimes that these are real dangerous adventures that one woman went through and had the smarts to get herself out of. Set in the steamy tropical settings of South Florida and South America, this book is a great paperback to throw in your travel bag or just bring it home for those lazy summer days. The writing is expressive, easy to understand, and sassy.
This is a great book for anyone looking for true crime or an inspiring story of how one woman, a single mother created a life for herself that one could only dream of. She is now one of the most successful private eyes in the country and that's not bad for what is technically a senior citizen. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in that genre or who is even just a little curious. I know Laura, not her real name of course. And I have only known her for some 10 years. I am glad I never came across her in the 70s and 80s. As a younger bonds woman and investigator with an attitude I would have been completely bewildered by her. So thankfully I can sit back and enjoy her stories now, knowing that even though they are wild and outlandish, these stories are true. She is the real thing.
Laura's writing can be raw and straight from the gut but she paints a vivid picture of Miami in the early cocaine days of the 70's and early 80's.
There is no other literature out there documenting what happened in this criminal world quite so vividly.
I really loved this book and keep searching for (hopefuly) another book by this author. I will keep searching. Please Miss Lanfield.
